Perched House

Fitzroy North

Perched House is a single fronted Edwardian located in Melbourne’s prestigious suburb of Fitzroy North. The client wanted to utilise the existing 1980’s extension and to go up to a first floor, adding more amenities to the property. Wexhaus had a different plan, which they proposed and was gleefully accepted by the client. The flow and unusual layout of the original Edwardian resulted in decreased optimisation of furniture due to excessive traffic space. additionally, the layout resulted in various dark areas due to poor orientation to the sun. the new layout, while seemingly small in plan optimised the lot space to the max, bringing in light and air through the property. The refurbished Edwardian, along with the new extension comprise a comfortable family home not thought achievable with the original layout.

We have been reluctant renovators from the beginning, but you’ve won us over many times with your ideas and flair. Thank you for all the work you have put into the design and concept.
