Eagle House
Eagle House is a newly constructed two-storey, three-bedroom modern brutalist residence in South Yarra, meticulously designed for a family of four. This modern dwelling replaces a previous Edwardian residence, embodying the essence of contemporary elegance through its minimalist and functionalist approach.
While the structure maintains the characteristic concrete monolithic form typical of Wexhaus designs, it incorporates subtle curves and angles to harmonise with the streetscape and neighbouring properties. The exterior’s material simplicity extends seamlessly into the interior, featuring a restrained palette of finishes. This design choice creates a timeless backdrop, allowing the home to evolve gracefully with changing trends and showcase the artist-owner’s vibrant and distinctive pieces.
Situated on a compact site of less than 180 square metres, the combined ground and first floors span 184 square metres. This spatial constraint necessitated innovative solutions from the Wexhaus team to optimise functional zones, circulation spaces, and multipurpose areas to accommodate the family’s needs effectively.
Wexhaus was able to demonstrate their skill and resourcefulness in maximising small spaces.
