Lyrebird House

Doncaster

Lyrebird House, thus named because it is a complete contradiction between unassuming exterior with the jewel-like (yet minimalistic) polish of the interior, is a mid-century modern renovation of a three-storey family home located in Doncaster. Wexhaus completed a complete renovation of this uniquely-designed architect’s home that was built in the ’70s. The house was large enough that no extension was needed. Wexhaus underwent the exercise of redeploying the spaces to better suit our current lifestyles, as well as that of the owners. There was a lot of restraint practised in the execution of this reborn brutalist house. This restraint paid off, allowing one to quietly absorb the sheer scale and monument of this brilliant home.
